Therapeutic joint injections

Therapeutic joint injections are a minimally invasive treatment option used to relieve pain or inflammation caused by joint conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis, bursitis and gout.

Corticosteroids, used to reduce inflammation and minimise pain as a result, are injected into the affected joint or area. This medication affects only the treatment area and does not usually cause side effects in most patients. The injection can be administered with local anaesthetic.

At Bloom Healthcare, we administer joint injections to relieve pain in the following conditions:

  • rotator cuff sprain
  • acromio-clavicular joint sprain
  • tennis elbow
  • golfer's elbow
  • mild carpal tunnel syndrome
  • some tendinitis in the wrist
  • knee osteoarthritis

New!!! Joint lubrication injection

Millions of people suffer with osteoarthritis in the knees. In this type of arthritis, the cartilage not only wears down but also the lubricating fluid in the joint decreases. This fluid, called hyaluronic acid, acts a a cushion and reduces the friction and wearing from joint motion. Injection of hyaluronic acid into the knee joint is believed to stimulate increased lubrication in the aging, arthritic joint. This treatment is known as viscosupplementation and is one of the treatments we offer our patients for symptomatic osteoarthritis in the knees.

NIR treatment for chronic muscular pain

Do you suffer with chronic back ache? Are you tired of constantly living on many painkillers?

NIR is a non-invasive way to relieve chronic musculo-skeletal pain. A probe gently massages the skin surface while it sends near-infrared light deep into the tissues. This heats up the tissues and result in better blood supply, relieve of muscle spasm and healing of inflammation. NIR treatment can be applied to any body area but is particularly effective for the following:

  • chronic non-disc related back pain
  • biceps sprain
  • hamstrings sprain
  • calf sprain
