Sexual Health

STI testing

Anyone who is sexually active may be at risk of acquiring an STI. These infections may impair various important human functions, especially reproduction.

At Bloom Healthcare, we offer easy access to a confidential sexual health screening service. Your record and test results will not be available to your GP. After an initial consultation and pre-test counselling, samples are taken and sent to the laboratory. Follow-up consultation can be done either in person or by telephone according to your preference. Unlike most other private STD screening services, we are able to offer treatment if tests are positive.

We can provide testing for each STI but our clients also have the opportunity to select a a variety of combined tests.

  • Basic - Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia tests only
  • Reassurance - Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia and Syphilis
  • Quad Test - HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia

Erectile Dysfunction & Premature Ejaculation

These are two very common but treatable conditions in men but many do not seek medical advice. Erectile dysfunction is the most common sexual problem in older men and affects up to one third of men throughout their lives. It is inability to sustain an erection for intercourse.  Premature ejaculation or rapid ejaculation is the most common sexual problem in men younger than 40 years. These two conditions cause a substantial negative impact on intimate relationships, quality of life and self-esteem. Most men are shy to discuss these problems with their doctor which means they miss out on effective treatment that could once again bring their relationships back to life.

Bloom Healthcare offers a unique psycho-sexual health service. Our doctor takes a thorough history to determine if there are medical problems that could be causing sexual dysfunction and also provides medical treatment while our counsellor, who specialises in psycho-sexual health, offers help in dealing with the psychological and emotional issues resulting in or arising from sexual dysfunction.

Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSSD)

HSDD is the most common female sexual dysfunction. It can have a serious effect on emotional well-being and interpersonal relationships, and occurs in both pre- and postmenopausal women. It can be simply defined as persistent lack of sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity (that is reduced libido) to a level that causes distress or difficulties in relationships.

Hypoactive sexual desire disorder is believed to be under-reported and most women find it difficult to discuss this problem with their doctor. At Bloom Healthcare, our caring and listening doctor is able to explore any worrying issue with you in our relaxed and welcoming clinic, and confidentiality is assured.
